Our Impact (Training Today, Capital Tomorrow)
See how our student-run investment training program uses simulated portfolios to prepare future investors to connect disciplined investing with charitable impact.
How We Train for Impact
SolidRock Capital currently operates as a student-run investment training program that uses simulated capital. We do not manage real capital or make real donations yet—instead, we practice how a non-profit quantitative hedge fund would allocate capital to vetted charities focused on education, health, social impact, and economic opportunity.
Our team conducts rigorous research and risk management on paper portfolios, then builds mock reports that show how realized returns would be converted into donations and long-term partnerships.
We balance a disciplined, value-oriented approach with a clearly defined, hypothetical giving pipeline, so students and future donors can see the bridge between market performance and real-world outcomes we hope to support.
Impact Focus Areas
Education
Scholarships, tutoring, and educational programs that expand access to high-quality learning.
Health
Community health initiatives, mental health services, and organizations improving well-being.
Social Impact
Non-profits tackling inequality, climate resilience, and other pressing global challenges.
Economic Opportunity
Programs that support entrepreneurship, job creation, and financial inclusion.
How We Choose Partners
Identify Needs
We map global and local needs where charitable capital could create outsized, measurable impact, and use them as case studies for our students.
Evaluate Charities
Our team studies potential charity partners for track record, governance, transparency, and outcomes, building the evaluation framework we’ll use once we deploy real capital.
Deploy & Review
We run simulated donation allocations, monitor hypothetical results, and refine our giving strategy—so that when we do manage capital, our process is already battle-tested.
